This July finds frequent collaborators Abstract Drumz and Peeb making their collective debut on renowned record label Cause4Concern Recordings with the four-track EP Nothing Changes.

Hailing from Cardigan, Wales and Leeds, West Yorkshire respectively, the pair have each been making strides within the D&B and jungle scenes, cultivating an impressive back catalogue with their groundbreaking fusion of sprawling atmospherics and rugged drum programming. With past drops on emergent labels like Guerilla Bass, Omni and Danger Chamber between them, the two new-school beatmakers have shown themselves to be ardent appreciators of old-school sonics, weaving their signature flair into their creations to make for distinctively modern results.

Nothing Changes consists of four Abstract Drumz concoctions, two of which are co-produced by Peeb. Previewed by the man himself during a recent appearance on Pesk’s Déjà Vu FM show, title track “Nothing Changes” is an immersive experience, with ambient pads and shimmering cymbals suddenly catapulting into a tornado of unrelenting breakbeats. Peeb is on hand for “Bloom”, an appropriately titled gem invoking images of springtime serenity with its luscious melodies and jubilant brass passages. Abstract Drumz’ “The Answer”, already championed by We Are Hardcore’s Jay Cunning, sees him deploying an innovative combination of echoing vocals, delicate arpeggios and throbbing guitar wahs, while closer “Re-Past” reintroduces Peeb into the fold, with the talented twosome utilising sustained chords, reverberating impacts and a cautionary vocal sample—resulting in a heady conclusion to a stellar EP.

The Nothing Changes EP lands 5 July exclusive to Beatport and Spotify, reaching a wide range of digital service providers a fortnight later on 19 July 2021
