This July, forward-thinking record label Forest Biz present “Rinseware Rewired.” The concept is simple: a nine-track reimagining of “Rinseware”, Lucas The Flow’s 2020 EP for the UK-based imprint. Forest Biz has tapped a range of names for the record: Rotterdam dubstep don Le Lion, drum & bass purveyor PHYDRA and Slug Wife’s scratch DJ and artist in his own right: Lone Drum.
‘Thermogenesis’ gets the remix treatment from Dead End and Le Lion. The former’s take is sound system ready: a drone-like bass cuts through the speakers with glitched out samples adding a cybernetic feel to proceedings. Le Lion’s version is a peak-time stepper, front-loaded with low end and reworking the string motif of the original into an atmospheric breakdown.
Lone Drum’s take on ‘Equilibrium’ is a techy stomper bundling with rhythm, while PHYDRA rewires the mellow ‘Tourbillion’ into a colossal bass drop banger. ‘Spicy Circuit’ gets a choppy rework courtesy of Result, while Alexxx’s Kickin It Version turns up the heat with frenzied breaks.
Detrivore’s take on ‘Lagoona’ is packed with bleeps and wonky bass, while HNGN’s version goes for the jugular, recontextualising the original for the dancefloor. Closing out “Rinseware Rewired” is the man himself, Lucas The Flow, and he offers up a VIP version of 'Woken'. A lurking bassline joins the pitched-up vocal sample, making 'Woken VIP' a real wobbler and closing the EP off in style.
“Rinseware Rewired” will land on all major digital outlets 23rd July.
