Elliott Saloman marks the launch of his brand new label "Choppy Waters" with the EP "X Marks The Spot", a release which celebrates the dynamic styles intrinsic within retro and modern veins of Jungle. Choppy Waters is a South West UK based label which aims to serve as a platform to push forward the next wave of Jungle & Rave music. The core ethos of the label is to deliver music inspired by the Breakbeat genres which were key to the formation of the genre we now know as Drum & Bass. The opening track "Another Place" sets the scene with a techy yet playful breakbeat. Hardcore-esque pitched up vocals soon signal a change of tone as the track is guided into a darker setting with a deep Reese bass. Building on the Reese bass theme, the second track, "Black Sails", uses staggered breakbeats and lofi textures to create a profound and ghostly atmosphere. "Plunder" is up next, and brings forth ethereal chimes riding a bouncy 808 bassline. The last track "Sirens" highlights Saloman's golden era influences; retrograde synths and textures inspire a sense of nostalgia akin to early Jungle. Elliott Saloman sets the bar for his new label with a dynamic and exciting release. "X Marks The Spot" officially marks the start of Choppy Waters and it's journey into the Jungle & Rave scene.
