Intercept - Nexus / Black Lotus - Protocode / PRTCD019

BEATPORT/SPOTIFY: 19th APR 2021 FULL RELEASE: 3th MAY 2021

Making his full-fledged debut on ProtoCode following an outstanding appearance on the Alpha Cuts compilation earlier this year, Auckland producer Intercept is back with the heavyweight two-tracker “Nexus” / “Black Lotus”.

First foraying into DJing in 2009, the Kiwi talent has been steadily honing his craft as a producer, with his recent bootlegs of iconic D&B anthems including Culture Shock’s “Bunker” and Adam F’s “Circles” proving to be sure-fire hits on New Zealand’s thriving club circuit. With an official remix for Teddy Killerz and support from UKF and Noisia already under his belt, he’s fast proving himself to be a rising star, with his signature fusion of techstep intricacies and neuro bassweight making him a force to be reckoned with.

Greeting listeners with the sound of rainfall and ambient pads, “Nexus” is cinematic from its opening notes, snapping into immersive climaxes punctuated by precise, drilling basslines, stuttering vocal cuts and sweeping synth work and resulting in a spellbinding hybrid concoction. Equally ambitious but markedly choppier, “Black Lotus” further explores these themes, its reverberating introduction leading into a striking crescendo oriented around pummelling impacts and immaculately detailed sound design. Naturally, there are plenty of surprises around the corner, with even a four-to-the-floor switch-up nestled into the track to make for thrilling results.

“Nexus” / “Black Lotus” hits Beatport and Spotify on 19 April, landing on other retailers and streaming services on 3 May
