James Spratling, aka #JMajik is one of the UK’s most respected and celebrated drum & bass pioneers having famously first released on #LemonD’s seminal label at the age of just 13 years old. Fast-forward through 25 years of consistent output and he has unveiled a rare remix of Dutch producer #JorisVoorn’s track ‘#Messiah’. This is one of J’s first releases since putting out his own long-awaited back to the roots album #FullCircle on his own imprint #InfraredRecords last year. The original ‘#Messiah’ features on #JorisVoorn’s fourth artist album ‘\\\\’ released last year which was hugely inspired by the European electronic scene in the mid 90s and features collaborations with #Underworld, #Lazarusman, #MichielBortslap and #HÆLOS. ‘#Messiah’ is a trademark slice of #Joris’ emotive electronica built upon layers of momentous piano and ‘90s atmospheric breakbeat with the #JMajik remix being the next logical step in this journey. #J’s remix is a typically high octane yet smooth amen roller. Combining raw old school elements of the mid-90s jungle sound infused with the beautiful spine-tingling vocals of #HÆLOS frontwoman #LottiBenardout, the result is an epic and overwhelming slice of quality drum & bass. ‘#Messiah’ is not the only track to receive a star-studded rework. #Joris’ album tracks have been remixed by a handpicked cast of some of the most exciting names in electronic music which include fellow Dutch producer and Afterlife affiliate Colyn alongside Anjunadeep’s Yotto, with more in the works slated for release over the coming months.
