Following last year’s Spearhead debut with his Trex-collaborated EP ‘Brighter Now’, Missing returns to BCee’s imprint with ‘Ever Wanted’.
Three beautiful new originals from the versatile veteran; first we have the dreamy designs and woozy blues of the title track ‘Ever Wanted’ before the star-gazing hope and sense of zero gravity on ‘Closer To Love’ take us further into Missing’s unique cosmos. Finally we hit the grit between the grooves thanks to the heavier sense of urgency, subtle rave elements and darker soul of ‘Once Upon A Time’.
Each cut rooted in some of the most consistent fundaments in drum & bass jungle, the whole EP is laced with a strong sense of memory and nostalgia that’s both personal to the artist but will relate to us all. For Sam Missing, they’re directly inspired by key sets that really put him on this path, stirred his creative soul and got him writing beats in the first place; dBridge and Marcus b2b at Plastic People, a jazzy introspection session at Blue Note from Fabio and a really early Hospitality shindig at the long lost Herbal… Life-changing moments for Sam, well over 20 years later he’s articulating those feelings and inspirations to ensure that energy can be passed on to dancefloors for years to come.
