Following a run of top 5 charting releases that doesn't show any sign of slowing; the Northern Powerhouse, #Nuusic, wades back in to the fray.
#Motiv is possibly one of the most prolific & underrated producers in the scene today. With production styles covering the whole spectrum of Jungle & DnB; he is equally at home crafting heavy, hard-hitting dancefloor Drum & Bass as he is bringing his own soulful style to Liquid or Jungle. Having had music picked up by purveyors of aggy Jump-Up Sub-Liminal, Amen-Enthusiasts Sub-Woofah to being called up to the much sought after Lion Dub Street Series; Motiv's rap sheet speaks for itself.
His debut #Nuusic EP is every bit as guttural, sub-laden and downright dangerous as we've come to expect from the hyper-talented Northerner. The title track, ''#Gallows'', is a distorted, bass driven exploration of Jungle accompanied by an breaks so crisp they'd give Gary Lineker the sweats. ''#Fakes'' continues to delve in to the realms of the Gully; #Motiv drafts in #Nuusic regular & all around musical wizard Teej this time. The two combined bring the old-school Jump-Up fire with a track that is set to do some serious damage in the dance. The third track, ''#SlouchBag'' is another classically #Motiv track; with jittering drums and a tidal bass line that can only really be described as rrrrrrrolling. Finally, for ''#DevilsSon'' #Motiv teams up with a Junglist from across the Atlantic; #RMS. If the spawn of Satan is as dark and dangerous as the track suggests; then we're dreading the day the bossman hangs up his hooves.
This is just another EP that proves that Nuusic are going nowhere.
