Once again, the #AxonRecords collective grows. This time with a double dosage of heavyweight energy, provided by a young Lithuanian producer known as #Melanchol. Side A is a track entitled ‘#Abyssal’. Initially beginning with an atmospheric soundscape, melodic arps and elements build towards a thick crescendo of sound. Once the energy breaks, a solid modulated reece bassline emerges. The result is an intense piece of music, which contains many elements reminiscent of early #Spor. For the second helping we have ‘#Fallout’. Starting off with an eerie sample, #Melanchol adjusts each component to develop pressure as it rises towards the drop. The main section rolls into a melodic, percussive bassline. Each note has been placed perfectly, creating a funky syncopation to juxtapose the snappy, techy drums. For his first contribution to the label, #Melanchol has proven that he is an unpolished diamond. His solid, sleek and powerful production shines through amongst the noise. We expect to be hearing much more impressive music from himself throughout 2020 and onwards. Beatport Exc: 2nd March
