Brimming with innovations from both brand-new faces and established acts, C4C Limited’s Flavours Vol. 2 EP serves as a timely reminder from the drum and bass specialists. Totalling five tracks, each from a different artist, the project features some of the Cause4Concern heaviest offerings yet.
‘Matt Domino’s’ ‘Clandestine’ kicks off proceedings, launching into a storm of hard-hitting drums and rhythmic impacts, it promptly progresses into a deep hypnotic affair, tight production that leaves a lasting impression on the listener. Next up, Brazilian talent ‘Dunk’ makes his debut with ‘Deep Tek’ a heavy-duty rumbler reaffirming why he was such an important addition to this project. Opening with cinematic ambiance, the new track takes a darker turn as its sci-fi samples and sinewy basslines strike, reaching brutal climaxes centred around the robotic styled vocal. ‘Bremlin’ steps up next for an equally accomplished offering, ‘Lithium’ strikes with precision, fuzzed basslines and voweled, synthetic groans weaving in and out of the mix. It’s a characteristically hard-hitting heater from the UK based producer.
Meanwhile, Florida based producer ‘AnnGree’ turns in the aptly titled ‘Storm Chaser’, a tech fuelled creation which builds from ambient breakdowns to a climatic pinnacle anchored on deep organic basslines and an intoxicating arpeggio that pulls your ear into wanting to hear more. Finishing up the project in style we welcome Soul Defiance into the fold, ‘Pulling Me Back’ opens with invitingly melodic pads and crisp beats before arriving at the tearout drops and the infectious vocal synonymous with the future funk sound C4C pride themselves on, a fitting conclusion to a heavyweight EP.
‘Flavours Vol 2’ will arrive to Beatport & Spotify on 26th May, landing on all digital platforms two weeks later on 9th June.
